Nick Diaz will not "accept" loss to Carlos Condit, says retirement is possible
After a frustrating five-round defeat against newly-crowned Interim Welterweight Champion Carlos Condit, Nick Diaz has announced that tonight's octagon appearance may have been his last.
Fresh off a dominant victory over B.J. Penn, Diaz came into tonight's main event as the favorite, but appeared to have no answers for Condit's strategic approach. By utilizing a diverse striking set and constant footwork, "The Natural Born Killer" was able to avoid Diaz's high-volume boxing attack en-route to a comfortable unanimous decision victory.
Noticably displeased with the judges' decision, Diaz awaited his turn on the mic, revealing to UFC commentator, Joe Rogan, that, not only will he not accept the loss, but he is also likely to retire.
"I've not going to accept the fact that this is a loss," Diaz insisted. "I pushed him back the whole fight, I walked him down, and I was the guy on top. You guys pay me a ton, but I don't think I'm getting enough to keep going on. I don't need this sh-t. I pushed this guy back the whole fight. I don't want to play this game anymore."
The defeat marks the former Strikeforce champ's first since 2007 and snaps an eleven-fight winning streak. Prior to the loss, Diaz was booked to challenge reigning 170-pound kingpin Georges St. Pierre in a Champion vs. Champion bout, but got Condit instead when the Canadian suffered a torn ACL and was forced to withdraw from the fight.
Update:
John Morgan of MMAJunkie.com has also revealed via Twitter that, though initially scheduled to appear, Nick Diaz will not be attending the post-fight press conference.
"Nick Diaz's nameplate has been removed. We will not have him at presser."

Why cant Leonard Garcia just win all his decisions like hes supposed....

Nick had a gameplan, the exact same one he brings to every fight, and this time someone was ready for it. He was out maneuvered, out struck, out damaged, out worked, and he lost. Had this been a Pride match, he would have lost just as badly there. Reply 3 months ago
But there was no grappling...except in the 5th at the last minute(literally)
Condit won 49-46 in my book. Maybe 48-47 Condit...but thats really pushing it(I would score it like that if I was a Diaz fan) Reply 3 months ago
Dana and them did great on the prime time for his image and then he said what he said he was able to do more and didnt im sorry i was a fan but now sucks to have a great fight fight like that he did push the fight but was countered the whole time then his takedown was crap he sould of been able to finish that fight but already thought he was special who is he to be special like all the crap he has done from the get go...mannn
im pissed on how he has been and the chances he has had took for granted... Reply 3 months ago
Condit was saying that he had the tools to take Nick Diaz out. But I guess his trainers made him leave those tools at home. Reply 3 months ago
Too bad refs don't score that way....except in the machida fight.Oh wait, machida actually looked like he could take rampage out at some point Reply 3 months ago
supid gameplans at greg jacksons ****in boring ! i wanna watch a fight not a grown man pussy footing around for 25 mins come onnnn Reply 3 months ago
Diaz didnt win.
...wtf were you trying to prove again?.... Reply 3 months ago
Don't see why everyone is crying foul play, i was @ Hooters surrounded by Stockton drunks & they knew Diaz lost.
Like i said before, he shouldn't of been so worried about Rush.....remember when i said that & got weaked over 30 times, then dumptruck ass Entity tried to clown me. How it taste now punk? Reply 3 months ago
Condit was backing down the entire time, he was hitting but nothing seemed to phase nick who would corner condit and hit him with something that looked like it actually did damage, condit would then fully turn away from nick and run. Meanwhile pride guys claim rampage won when he never even hit machida and constantly got hit...but he was moving forward so that's enough.
Nick ought to be pissed about that decision...guess next time he shouldn't give away hits though. Reply 3 months ago
I gave Condit rounds 3 and 4, because while he was still moving backwards, he clearly outlanded Diaz.
Round 5 is a no brainer. Diaz was by far the closest to finishing this fight of either guy at the end. The only reason Condit escaped was because Diaz went for an armbar with 15 seconds left.
49-46 Condit is a joke. Reply 3 months ago
Please educate yourself about mixed martial ARTS before saying something without arguments. Reply 3 months ago
i had carlos landing most strikes throughout the 5 rounds, diaz had a few connections but most noticibly was him taking carlos from behind which carlos immediatly defended, and if you watch the end of the fight, carlos mounted diaz and was punching away, so another 10/20 seconds, who knows but carlos DID win that fight Reply 3 months ago
The fight ended with both fighters going for leg locks, and Condit most definitely did not have diaz mounted. Reply 3 months ago
And Condit was defending the choke quite nicely, the one time it was even close he was able to literally just push Nick's arms up and off him. Nick wasn't gonna choke anybody. Reply 3 months ago
Believe this, Condit was not getting out of that body triangle on his own, and he would have eventually tired and got choked. Its a damn near impossible position to get out of.
He was essentially saved by the end of the round. Reply 3 months ago
I didn't know 6 minutes rounds existed...
Dude wake up Nick Diaz lost and didn't have time to finish Carlos because Carlos Condit was TOO GOOD for him.
That "saved by the bell" thing isn't an argument, it's a supposition of what could have happened if the rules were different, if this wasn't mma, that's pure objectivity and speculation, just to find an excuse to Diaz' loss. Reply 3 months ago
I was only referring to the fact that Nick took Condit's back with 1 minute left instead of earlier in the round.
I wasn't speculating on anything, I was simply making the argument that Diaz won round 5, and responding to a guy who watched a fight in which Condit finished round 5 in mount position and "punching away" - clearly a different fight than I watched. Reply 3 months ago
Condit wasn't scared, he simply didn't want to get hit by Diaz, which is what mixed martial arts is all about. Reply 3 months ago
not exciting but how did Condit not win the fight? plus he caused more damage! Reply 3 months ago
if u are a fighter try it i mean its not easy but harder than to fight like a men!!
but mostly i stop doin it course its boring eben in training Reply 3 months ago
But in rounds 3 & 4, instead of just running away, Carlos started hitting Diaz on the way in, and then spinning away to avoid combinations.
Nick took three shots to get off one, and instead of staying on top of Condit once he closed, he kept letting him slip away and reset.
Rounds 3 & 4 to Condit. Making someone back up isn't an advantage if he keeps kicking and punching you while they do it.
Most of the last round went the same way as rounds 3 & 4 but then Diaz finally did take Carlos's back. He did it so easily, you wonder why he didn't do it sooner.
It made the fifth a lot closer, and if Nick had actually got close to making Condit tap, you could argue that it was his round.
But he didn't. Although it was a dominant position, it came to late in the fight. Carlos adapted and deserved the win, though not by a much.
And for those of you wondering how one judge scored it 49-46 for Condit, that's easy....Cecil Peoples was judging the fight. Reply 3 months ago
I could see you giving rounds 1 and 2 to Condit, although personally I wouldn't. He landed some good shots in both of those rounds despite backing up the entire time.
But what Diaz did at the end of the 5th round was by far the most significant action of the fight. It was the only time anyone came close to finishing.
If Diaz won any of the rounds, it was round 5. Reply 3 months ago
how about having live score cards..
although i agree condit won, i firmly believe diaz THOUGHT he was winning, and therefore continued to play along in a game he thought was going his way, had he seen the scores between rounds he would see that pushing the pace wasn't enough, and rounds 3, 4 and 5 would've been very different if he knew he had to score more takedowns, stop condit resetting to the center of the cage etc. Reply 3 months ago
u willl never ever see a boxing fight were one guy fight like a bitch or like some of u call it smart in the ring from side to side....

THIS IS A FU...... FIGHTING SPORT!!!!! Reply 3 months ago
Well done Condit.
Go get a box of tissues Nick you lost...go away re think and remember you cant just keep doing what you do ...fighters today will find a way around it.......MMA today is the closest thing to Bruce Lee's Jeet kune do that we have ....you do what works for you and what Carlos Condit did worked very well in frustrating Diaz and showing his macho toe to toe boxing ethos to be limited and ineffective against Condits adapting space creating and diverse striking style. Who writes this shit? Reply 3 months ago
1 and 2 rounds was close but Diaz was moving foward "AND" landing punchs in condits face. This was the only two rounds when Diaz found Condit inside the Cage during exchanges, and the damage in Condits face was due this two rounds.
3 and 4 Condit won, Diaz was moving foward but whithout sucess.... Condit controls de distance, did all the damage, I think Diaz didnt landed anything during de 4....
5 - Diaz changed the game, did landed some lazzy kicks and score the takedown and submition attempt....Condit landed some strikes too, but the takedown and the control on the ground should give Diaz this round.
Could go either way, but I do think Diaz won that fight. Reply 3 months ago
but i don't like fights like that sry....
some guy got fighting spirit and wannt to fight some just go for the w...
i agree diaz lost that fight...proobs to the national big killer (don't seem a killa to me at this fight)
i mean i like technical fights too like rashad davis or penn edger machida jones ....they were a lil technical but there were not like some one is runnin away....
why is pride gone ? the rules were better the time .....
joe rogen need s to make a new decition about butin fighters together...
i mean its startin to work out if u are not a good wrestle guy to be ELUSIV(runnin)
i hope son or later we will have a match up with to guys beeing soo elusiv jumpin front and back kicken the shit out of there legs ....technical at its best some will call it dump some smart or maybe its the master plan;)
i mean they are pros and get payed good for fighting so please let them fight .....i one guy whants to fight the other just a w ....the fightin guy will look bad outclassed call it what u want.....i mean ifa wrestler takes u down and do nothing they stand u up why??course we not wanna see bad shit or not ??some guys say this is mma bla bla bla ok !!!then give a wrestler a chance just to hold some one for 5x5 min without put them back on there feet...the other guy needs to get up by himself...
what rules are the best for mma? Reply 3 months ago
2. Diaz lost
3. Diaz was not able to deal with the very good counter-striking of Condit
4. Condit outstruck Diaz very well
5. Condit was the smarter of the two

Oh and btw, if you're go get all holier than though with some " the sport is evolving man" bs, go right ahead. If MMA is evolving into a point based, safest plan wins kinds deal, well, you can keep it. Reply 3 months ago
