Junior dos Santos says Overeem fight will come down to "who hits the other first"
"Overeem is really a tough, dangerous, heavy and really strong guy. I see him as a good challenge. Probably he’s accepting the stand-up fight. To me, it can go to the floor or on our feet. He’s very dangerous, but I gotta use my speed. I really believe in me, I’m always confident about my attitudes. I guess one of the secrets is: believing in yourself is half way. I really believe I can beat him. And as any fight, I’ll get there to knock him out. It won’t be different this time, I’m going there to knock him out.
I really believe my stand-up. I believe i can knock anyone out doing the right work. He’s as dangerous as me on the stand-up, there’s a reason why he became the champion at K-1. It’ll be a hard fight, it’s going to come down to who hits the other first. The impact of a heavyweight punch can knock anyone out in a second." - For complete interview with Junior dos Santos, visit Tatame.com
Junior dos Santos needed just 64-seconds to separate Cain Velasquez from consciousness, and Alistair Overeem will be no different.
That's according to the UFC Heavyweight Champion himself, who says that his showdown with fellow power-striker, Overeem, is likely to come down to who lands the first shot. Unbeaten inside the octagon, 10 of the Brazilian's 14 professional victories have come by way of knockout, including five first-round stoppages in the UFC. Overeem, meanwhile, heads into the bout fresh off his destruction of Brock Lensar at UFC 141. A former Strikeforce and K-1 champ, the TKO brings his knockout tally to 15, with an additional seven while competing in kickboxing.
With a total of 25 unconscious opponents between them, the UFC 146 title clash will be contested by, arguably, the two best strikers in MMA's Heavyweight history. So, what do you think LowKick'ers? Is JDS on point with his prediction? And if so, who touches the other's chin first?

This is so typical of Tito trying to market himself.....The peoples champ is what the fans decide. Not some has been who broke ranks with UFc and acted like a punk for so many years. Reply 3 months ago

This is just a sport about paying dudes to create shock, pain and excitement for the fans. Forget about the health of opponents Dana doesn;t give a shit. As long as he can make millions he doesn;t give a shit whose arms gets broken , whose orbital bone gets smahed, whose groin gets kicked in, whose teeth get knocked out, or who lies semi conscious in the hospital waiting for a CT scan. But in Dana's defence, these guys can sit back on the lounge chair drinking BUD light. Noone forces them in the ring Reply 3 months ago
Heavy weight division is rarely technical but when guys this size start throwing you know its not going to go the distance! which is why most ppl are always excited by the HW`s any clean shot by a decent HW is more than likely going to be a fight ending one! Reply 3 months ago
