Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen II set for June in Brazil
The long awaited rematch between Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva and top contender Chael Sonnen is set.
UFC President Dana White has confirmed that, despite Sonnen's insistence to the contrary, both the champ and challenger have verbally agreed to meet in June.
It's a bout that Sonnen (27-11-1) has campaigned for since his oh-so-close submission loss to Silva back at UFC 117. Though the rematch had been tentatively scheduled following his defeat, a series of mishaps saw the Team Quest fighter sidelined due to troubles with both the athletic commission and federal government.
After serving-out an NSAC mandated suspension, Sonnen made his octagon return in October and has since picked-up back-to-back victories over surging contender Brian Stann, and most recently, TUF 3 winner Michael Bisping.
Silva (31-4), meanwhile, went on to extended his current unbeaten streak to 15, scoring a highlight-reel knockout against Vitor Belfort before dominating Yushin Okami at UFC 134 in Brazil. With the victories "The Spider" has defended his Middleweight strap a record 9 times.
Though an exact date and venue has not yet been confirmed, the Middleweight title clash is expected to headline a June fight card in Brazil. Sao Paulo is considered the likely destination, according to White.

He isn't steroidfree, he just has gotten his papers and levels in order.
Don't get fooled, Dana even said it during an interview recently when asked about Chael. That he has to get his levels correct, but he is STILL USING the same shit!!!!! Reply 3 months ago
it will help him recover from the beating quicker Reply 3 months ago

Silva`s only weakness seems to be his TDD. Reply 3 months ago
And to add, an injureless Silva's still dangerous on the the ground just look at what he did to hendo Reply 3 months ago
I watched the fight, theirs one moment when silva tripped during an exchange. But one where chael did land a nice straight right and silva droped, quickly used his legs to bounce back up to regain his focus.
Chael had 20+ minutes to fight his fight but he's NOT GOOD enough to finish silva and most. Reply 3 months ago
Sonnen fails at capturing the belt, i want you to stfu.
If Chael becomes Middle Weight Champion ill leave this website FOREVER.. Reply 3 months ago
That said, I think Silva wins the rematch easier this time as he is smart and will have learned from their first encounter. Sonnen only has his one style and won't be changing it so Silva knows exactly what to prepare for. Reply 3 months ago
Sonnen will the chair to KO the Spider and get DQ'd which will lead to Silva vs Sonnen 3.
It will be a tag team bout, with Silva and Stephen Segal vs. Chael and Gina Carano fighting in a bikini match and then....
Wait, that doesn't sound right. Chael's last victory speech must have done my head in.
Silva is this, Sonnen is that, blah blah blah. I just can't to see them fight. Reply 3 months ago
you only get one of those opportunitys.......
and face it: silva is the superman of MW division and chael is just a looser bum with no power in his hands and no submission skills whatsoever.... sonnen already lost before entering the octagon.... Reply 3 months ago
Oh wait, wrong fight... Reply 3 months ago
