Overeem's Dream 15 Participation Questionable

While it was originally reported that Alistair Overeem vs. Ricco Rodriguez was all but signed for the DREAM.15 card on July 10, there has been an unfortunate turn of events for fans of the Japanese based organization.  According to MMAJunkie.com, a source close to Overeem has said the fight isn't even close to being official, going as far as stating that there is a "90%" chance that Overeem won't be fighting on the card altogether.

Moreover, Martijn de Jong, Overeems trainer, went a step further telling The Fight Show's Mauro Ranallo Wednesday afternoon that Overeem is "definitely not" fighting Ricco.

De Jong added that the Strikeforce champ is currently is Sweden, and ultimately his camp will make the official decision.

MMAFighting has reported that both Dream's officials and Rodriguez's camp have confirmed that the contracts have been sent out and both camps have verbally agreed to the fight.

There were previous talks of Overeem facing Arlovski, Minowa, or even Tim Sylvia at Dream 15, none of which materialized. Matchmaking seems to have become the major barrier between the Dutchman and his participation on the card.

The situation seems quite blurry at the moment, stay tuned as the picture should become more clear as the July 10th date approaches.
